About the Role:

Confluent is seeking an experienced, self-motivated Staff Accountant to join our Corporate Controllership team. In this role, you will be a key player in the Company's month-end close and reporting process, while supporting the Company’s growth efforts with participation in ad-hoc projects such as systems implementation, developing finance policies, researching and documenting complex and technical accounting transactions.  

The ideal candidate is an accounting graduate with an internship experience or at least 1+ years of experience at an accounting firm or a high-tech organization. You should have experience managing a wide scope of responsibilities against competing priorities and deadlines.   

Due to the fast-paced and high growth nature of the Company, the candidate must be detail oriented, have strong organization and communication skills, and a willingness to roll up their sleeves when needed.  

This position will be based in Singapore and will report to the APAC Accounting Manager.

What You Will Do:

  •   Responsible for accounting close activities including month-end close, preparation of management reporting, data analysis, journal entries, account reconciliations and supporting schedules for the APAC entities (as assigned by your manager).
  • Assist in the AP process and manage treasury processes for APAC subsidiaries, overseeing multiple currencies and bank accounts
  • Assist with the management of all inter-company transactions and reconciliations, including compliance with Inter-company Transfer Pricing agreements
  • Assist with the filing of the statutory financial statements and coordination with our external service providers to fulfil local statutory reporting requirements, including indirect and direct tax filings.
  • Assist with the management of relationships with external accounting firm in certain foreign locations
  • Coordinate with external auditors for APAC subsidiaries statutory audits and US audit.
  • Assist with the setup of new foreign entities or dissolution of existing entities.
  • Coordinate and prepare information for SOX compliance. 
  • Assist in special projects as assigned by management.

What You Will Bring:

  • Degree in accounting or finance.
  • at least 2-3+ years of responsible experience in accounting.
  • CPA certification (or local equivalent such as ACCA, ACA or CIMA).
  • Big 4 Accounting/Advisory/Audit experience preferred.
  • Public company and high-tech organization experience preferred with global companies with headquarters in the US.
  • Experience managing financial or tax audits; or preparing external facing financial statements.
  • Sound knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP and ability to explain accounting concepts to non-accountants.
  • Strong understanding of local and US GAAP as well as ability to clearly and concisely document and effectively communicate complex accounting and reporting issues to finance and non-finance personnel.
  • Enterprise software and SaaS industry experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Tier 1 ERP systems (NetSuite, Oracle, SAP) is a plus.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills with the ability to manipulate and interpret large sets of data.
