Confluent is pioneering a fundamentally new category of data infrastructure focused on data in motion. Have you ever found a new favorite series on Netflix, picked up groceries curbside at Walmart, or paid for something using Square? That’s the power of data in motion in action—giving organizations instant access to the massive amounts of data that is constantly flowing throughout their business. At Confluent, we’re building the foundational platform for this new paradigm of data infrastructure. Our cloud-native offering is designed to be the intelligent connective tissue enabling real-time data, from multiple sources, to constantly stream across the organization. With Confluent, organizations can create a central nervous system to innovate and win in a digital-first world.

We’re looking for self-motivated team members who crave a challenge and feel energized to roll up their sleeves and help realize Confluent’s enormous potential. Chart your own path and take healthy risks as we solve big problems together. We value having diverse teams and want you to grow as we grow—whether you’re just starting out in your career or managing a large team, you’ll be amazed at the magnitude of your impact.

About the Role
We’re looking for a well-rounded candidate with the ability to drive forward the creation, execution, and launch of Confluent’s emerging program for venture-backed start-ups. As the owner of this program, you’ll sit at the intersection of product marketing, commercial sales, and corporate development as you deploy a combination of product credits and technical resources to help these early stage firms realize the value of Confluent. The right candidate will have a strong technology background, understand the enterprise data ecosystem, and have experience at startups or selling to them.

What You Will Do:

  • Define Confluent’s messaging and value proposition for startups alongside the product marketing team and experienced AEs
  • Determine the nature of the program, including requirements, application process, onboarding, deploying Confluent, and the offramp/graduation from the program
  • Develop the external facing web presence for the program and any outbound communications (email, social, forums, etc)
  • Liaise with the VC community to gain an understanding of which of their portfolio companies might benefit most from the program
  • Work alongside operations teams to implement the necessary tools for tracking credit usage and technical touch-points
  • Team with technical resources (professional services, sales engineers, solution architects) to deliver an easy and smooth experience for startups as they get up and running with Confluent

What You Will Bring:

  • Experience with startups, either as an investor, employee, founder, or a sales person targeting early stage businesses
  • Demonstrated understanding of the broader technology infrastructure landscape (data movement, data storage, data analysis, application development and management), its trends, and how the needs of a startup differ from those of an enterprise
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with marketing, sales, business development, and more to build consensus and drive success for the program
  • Proven presentation skills, from the ability to craft a message to the ability to deliver a message
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure and willingness to embrace change and adapt strategies on the fly
  • 8+ years of related experience
  • Bonus → direct experience working with startups as part of your role at a CSP or ISV
