Confluent is pioneering a fundamentally new category of data infrastructure focused on data in motion. Have you ever found a new favorite series on Netflix, picked up groceries curbside at Walmart, or paid for something using Square? That’s the power of data in motion in action—giving organizations instant access to the massive amounts of data that is constantly flowing throughout their business. At Confluent, we’re building the foundational platform for this new paradigm of data infrastructure. Our cloud-native offering is designed to be the intelligent connective tissue enabling real-time data, from multiple sources, to constantly stream across the organization. With Confluent, organizations can create a central nervous system to innovate and win in a digital-first world.

We’re looking for self-motivated team members who crave a challenge and feel energized to roll up their sleeves and help realize Confluent’s enormous potential. Chart your own path and take healthy risks as we solve big problems together. We value having diverse teams and want you to grow as we grow—whether you’re just starting out in your career or managing a large team, you’ll be amazed at the magnitude of your impact.

About The Role
Did you ever have one of those teachers in school who captured your imagination, unwrapping the satisfaction of an equation or the hidden meaning behind classical prose? At Confluent this is what we believe teaching is about. Imparting the excitement of new technology, the insights and trade-offs you need to build reliable systems, and the inspiring pervasive idea that data-in-motion is as important as data at rest in the software systems of our future.

As the Head of the Developer Enablement team you'll be responsible for a suite of high-profile, deeply technical training that coaches the community on how best to build cutting-edge event streaming systems. Training like this, this, or this.

What You Will Do:

  • You’ll have experience running a training team or related function: developer advocacy, solutions engineering, or even software engineering.
  • You’ll have a technical background - enough to understand what developers want and need to be successful, how to talk their language, and the prerequisite skills to understand Confluent’s products and how they are used by developers
  • You’ll love to teach. This may not be something you practice regularly, but you’ll understand what makes high-quality, educational content stand out from run-of-the-mill training.
  • You’ll be someone that values taking ownership of a significant part of a high-profile, developer-focussed online training program and has the drive to make it the best in the industry.

What You Will Bring:

  • You’ll be responsible for the creation of all online course content produced by Confluent, and work closely with the Developer Content Operations team–who manage the production process–to plan the training content strategy and ensure that courses are delivered on time and to plan.
  • You’ll be responsible for key results measured in content consumption, signup conversion rate, course drop-off rate, and ultimately cloud consumption.
  • You’ll manage and grow a team of software specialists and technically-trained curriculum developers.
  • You will own the roadmap for all of Confluent’s online course content, working closely with the Customer Solutions Group to ensure it enables the most valuable use cases.
  • You’ll develop a deep understanding of event streaming technology and the needs of Confluent's users which you’ll use to inform your roadmap decisions.
  • You’ll work closely with the Head of Developer Strategy and Product organization to prioritize site features, login, learning paths, quizzes, assessments, etc. that make the courses section of the website a success.
  • You’ll take ownership of certification, creating a plan as well as implementing it

What Gives You An Edge:

  • Knowledge of Kafka, event streaming, distributed systems, data streaming, and data pipelines.
  • An eye for what makes great learning content stand out from the crowd.
  • Hands-on programming experience in the application or data spaces.
  • Experience leading teams in the education space.
  • A creative streak that you can apply to make the team’s content pop.
