We are looking for an experienced product leader to lead a team of product managers serving both internal and external customers. Confluent’s cloud platform enables a variety of feature teams at Confluent to deliver services like Kafka, Connect, ksqlDB, stream governance, stream sharing, and more in a consistent, scalable, high-velocity way by building a set of reusable core capabilities The PMs working on cloud platform also drive end-customer-facing capabilities that cut across multiple feature teams, in order to deliver coherent and powerful user experiences.


  • Lead internal cloud platform efforts and manage a team of PMs working with multiple control plane and observability engineering teams.
  • Work with other internal teams to align company strategy and understand what other Confluent product teams need to make high-leverage platform investments, and prioritize platform focus areas based on strategy and ROI. Align platform area around the overall prioritization, and raise awareness and adoption of platform capabilities among Confluent teams.
  • Determine areas of platform focus to inform roadmap and build vs buy decisions.
  • Partner with multiple feature teams to address customer needs in a consistent way across a large, deeply technical product surface.
  • Collaborate with platform engineering partners to create a coherent strategy for the platform area which aligns with the overall company strategy. Define, socialize, and improve internal measures of platform success.
  • Build and improve common capabilities for provisioning, updates, scaling, managing capacity, observability, and troubleshooting for different products and services.
  • Lead and grow the cloud platform PM team. Further, refine the notion of a “Platform PM” at Confluent and structure the organization to handle the next phase of Confluent’s growth. Mentor and coach the team and ensure visibility and growth opportunities for the platform PM team.
  • Raise the bar for the product management craft at Confluent with a clear focus on solving customer problems and measuring success. Encourage the team to uplevel their skills by attending courses, conferences, or taking on assignments that stretch their capabilities.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 10+ years of product management experience, with 4+ years managing a team of product managers
  • 4+ years working on a developer-oriented cloud service
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies, and how they differ among cloud providers 
  • Deep understanding of and empathy for how developers build, operate, and consume SaaS products
  • Experience building and growing a team of PMs
  • Excellent communication skills - articulate the platform and cloud product vision and present to internal and external customers as needed (standard PM director stuff - communication, hiring, prioritization, complexity, etc)
