Kafka Connect is a tool for scalable and reliable streaming data between Apache Kafka and other data systems. Apache Kafka Connect is a common framework for Apache Kafka producers and consumers. Kafka Connect allows you to integrate Apache Kafka with other apps and data systems with no new code. Confluent takes it one step further by offering an extensive portfolio of pre-built Kafka connectors, enabling you to modernize your entire data architecture even faster with powerful integrations on any scale. Our connectors provide peace of mind with enterprise-grade security, reliability, compatibility, and support. Apache Kafka Connect offers an API, Runtime, and REST Service to enable developers to define connectors that move large data sets into and out of Apache Kafka in real time. It inherits vital concepts such as fault tolerance and elasticity, thanks to being an extension of Apache Kafka.

Kafka Connect can ingest entire databases, collect metrics, and gather logs from all your application servers into Apache Kafka topics, making the data available for stream processing with low latency. Kafka Connect standardized integration of other data systems with Apache Kafka, simplifying connector development, deployment, and management.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the Connect team efforts
• Manage a team of PMs working with multiple engineering teams
• Understand what other Confluent product teams need, make high-leverage platform investments, and raise awareness and adoption of platform capabilities among Confluent teams
• Determine areas of platform focus to inform roadmap and build vs buy decisions
• Work with other internal teams to align on company strategy, and prioritize platform focus areas based on strategy and ROI. Align the platform area around the overall prioritization
• Define, socialize, and improve internal measures of platform success
• Partner with multiple feature teams to address customer needs in a consistent way across a large, deeply technical product surface
• Collaborate with platform engineering partners to create a coherent strategy for the platform area which aligns with the overall company strategy
• Build and improve common capabilities for provisioning, updates, scaling, managing capacity, observability, and troubleshooting for different products and services
• Consistency in “nouns and verbs” across the platform (terminology, levels of abstraction, policies, and rules)
• Lead and grow the India PM teams.
• Further, refine the notion of a “Connect PM” at Confluent
• Ensure visibility and growth opportunities for the Connect PM team, mentor and coach the team
• Structure the organization to handle the next phase of Confluent’s growth
• Raise the bar for the product management craft at Confluent
• Partner and brainstorm with other PMs to create strategy documents, requirements documents, etc. with a clear focus on solving customer problems and measuring success
• Encourage the team to uplevel their skills by attending courses, and conferences, or taking on assignments that stretch their capabilities

What We’re Looking For:

• Overall 15+ years of experience of which 10+ years of product management experience, with 4+ years, managing a team of product managers
• Deep understanding of and empathy for how developers build, operate, and consume SaaS products
• Experience building and growing a team of PMs
• Excellent communication skills - articulate the platform and cloud product vision and present to internal and external customers as needed (standard PM director stuff - communication, hiring, prioritization, complexity, etc)
