About the Role:

We are seeking a business-oriented attorney with experience in global privacy laws to join our growing legal team. In this role, you will assist in the development, implementation, and assessments of company-wide privacy and data governance programs, policies and procedures. To be successful in this role, you must be able to work independently, to build systems and processes, and to collaborate with teams and colleagues around the world.

What You Will Do:

  1. Reviewing and advising on agreements with various parties to ensure regulatory compliance with legal, contractual, and corporate requirements.
  2. Examine potential compliance deficiencies and provide quick effective solutions to include: drafting policies, evaluating global regulatory and licensing principles, improving business processes.
  3. Identify gaps in compliance awareness, policies, and tools and build countermeasures and sustainable and effective techniques to close those gaps; continuous improvement of compliance policies and programs.
  4. Working with global and regional leadership teams in reducing risks related to potential non-compliance and corruption.
  5. Identifying, prioritizing, and managing risks to the company by engaging and assisting in research and drafting of presentations on legal issues.
  6. Support compliance activities, including sharing and communicating policies, best practices, and expectations to affiliates and subsidiaries worldwide regarding regulatory compliance matters, working issues with internal stakeholders and external personnel, and assisting with the escalation process.

What You Will Bring:

  1. JD from a top tier law school.
  2. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in public companies and/or law firms in relevant regulatory matters and business compliance programs, in public companies and/or law firms.
  3. In-depth knowledge and understanding of the FCPA and ABAC laws, financial services regulation compliance, including EBA guidelines, and other global regulations and guidance.
  4. Ability to work independently on projects with minimal supervision, and manage multiple projects/meet deadlines within budget and with consistently high-quality work product.
  5. Strong understanding of software technology and cloud services, associated business models, and technology industry trends.
  6. Excellent legal and business judgment with the ability to assess and communicate risks to business partners in a clear and actionable way.
  7. Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate regulatory compliance issues to senior management.
  8. High level of integrity, team orientation, and treating others with respect.
  9. People who are smart, humble and empathetic, and who enjoy working as one team to get things done!

At Confluent, we are committed to providing competitive pay and benefits that are in line with industry standards. We analyze and carefully consider several factors when determining compensation, including work history, education, professional experience, and location.   This position has an annual estimated salary of 193,300 - 222,300 USD, an annual bonus, and a competitive equity package. The actual pay may vary depending on your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Confluent offers a wide range of employee benefits.
