About the Role:

We are seeking a business-oriented attorney to join our growing legal team. In this role, you will play a key role in negotiating a wide variety of inbound contracts, and collaborating with colleagues throughout the company to develop creative solutions that manage risk, with a focus on supporting our Marketing, Procurement, and Privacy teams.

In the legal department, we are passionate about enabling customer success, while building a strong foundation for the future. What You Will Do:

• JD from a top tier law school
• Active membership in good standing in at least one (1) state bar
  
• Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience in law firms and/or in-house legal departments. In-house experience at a high-growth global technology company is strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of software technology and cloud services, associated business models, advertising, marketing, media, right of publicity laws and regulations, and technology industry trends
  
• Strong negotiation and commercial, partnership, and media contract and licensing skills
  
• Track record of developing creative and practical solutions to novel problems and taking the initiative to implement those solutions
• Self-starting, proactive, adaptable person who can prioritize and manage multiple projects and recalibrate advice in view of evolving priorities, legal developments and risk tolerance
• Excellent legal and business judgment with the ability to assess and communicate risks to business partners in a clear and actionable way
• Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to explain concepts clearly to non-lawyers
• High level of integrity, team orientation, and treating others with respect
• People who are smart, humble and empathetic, and who enjoy working as one team to get things done

At Confluent, we are committed to providing competitive pay and benefits that are in line with industry standards. We analyze and carefully consider several factors when determining compensation, including work history, education, professional experience, and location.  This position has an annual estimated salary of $193,300 - $222,300 USD, an annual bonus, and a competitive equity package.
