About the Role:

We are looking for a Commercial Counsel to join the Confluent Legal Team! In this role you will be supporting the Americas Sales Teams. The ideal candidate for this role will have significant experience with SaaS contracts and supporting a sales organization. 


What You Will Do:

  1. Provide primary support of Confluent’s Enterprise and Commercial Sales organization
  2. Structure, draft, and negotiate complex commercial agreements
  3. Negotiate various privacy addendum agreements and security terms
  4. Work on a variety of cutting-edge projects to help our department scale, grow and be more efficient 
  5. Train and interact with Sales, third-party partners, and customers
  6. Partner with cross-functional teams  
  7. Solve issues related to complex commercial transactions 
  8. Be an independent worker and thought leader


What You Will Bring:

  • 5+ years of experience in technology transactions 
  • Specific experience negotiating SaaS subscription agreements, license and support agreements, and cloud services agreements with large enterprise customers
  • Experience with open-source licensing and business models
  • Experience working cross-functionally with internal organizations to resolve questions and concerns 
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to use sound judgment to address complex issues while maintaining an appropriate balance between legal and business requirements
  • Ability to maintain strong working relationships with demanding internal clients, work  independently with minimal supervision, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced startup environment
  • True team player
  • Familiarity with technical concepts in Web applications and a willingness to learn new technical applications 
  • License to practice in one or more states 
  • Undergraduate and law degree

At Confluent, we are committed to providing competitive pay and benefits that are in line with industry standards. We analyze and carefully consider several factors when determining compensation, including work history, education, professional experience, and location.   This position has an annual estimated salary of 193,300 - 222,300 USD, an annual bonus, and a competitive equity package. The actual pay may vary depending on your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Confluent offers a wide range of employee benefits.
