About the Role:

The cloud platform relies on a massively scalable data infrastructure that enables low-latency, high throughput operations to power all critical workflows in Confluent Cloud. This infrastructure enables elegant stream-processing applications, cross VPC events communication, and near real time composite analytics.

We are looking for a senior leader to lead this organization. In this role, we are excited for you to drive the vision, recruit, build out and create a high-performing engineering organization that solves complex stream processing challenges at scale.

 

What You Will Do:

  • Lead a highly productive, global team of software engineers and engineering leaders 
  • Drive long-term direction and strategy for , while maintaining high levels of productivity and execution standards within your organization
  • Create competitive advantages for the cloud platform by innovating in large scale and globally distributed infrastructure  
  • Continue a strong growth trajectory by hiring top tier engineers, and establish quality standards, design principles, and operational maturity for your team
  • Work closely with peer engineering leaders to prioritize improvements in all these areas - from a culture of continuous improvement to prioritizing large and high-impact initiatives that will fundamentally change Confluent Cloud


What You Will Bring:

  • 8+ years of engineering management experience leading productive, collaborative, high-functioning teams.
  • Ability to hire while ensuring a high hiring bar, keep engineers motivated, coach/mentor, and handle performance management.
  • Experience building, managing and running large scale distributed systems in the cloud (databases, workflows, cluster management, data infrastructure).
  • Should be able to move fast, build in increments, and iterate. Have a sense of urgency, an aggressive mindset towards achieving results, and excellent prioritization skills.
  • Able to anticipate future technical needs for the product and craft plans to realize them, guided by our customers.
  • Ability to influence the team, peers, and upper management using effective communication and collaborative techniques.

At Confluent, we are committed to providing competitive pay and benefits that are in line with industry standards. We analyze and carefully consider several factors when determining compensation, including work history, education, professional experience, and location.  This position has an annual estimated salary of $239,800 - $257,650, an annual bonus, and a competitive equity package. The actual pay may vary depending on your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Confluent offers a wide range of employee benefits.
