About the Role:

As the Senior Manager, Security TPM, you will play a critical role in fulfilling the vision to secure Confluent’s platform and cloud offerings through a combination of technical expertise, security experience, and excellent people and program management skills. We are looking for a technical security senior manager who will help lead and grow the Security Technical Program Management team. You should be comfortable and experienced in driving and delivering highly complex projects on time, running significant security programs that span the entire company, and participating in operational security exercises as well as managing a seasoned group of Security TPMs. The ideal candidate has deep technical security knowledge and expertise and will help implement robust security architecture strategies, frameworks, and governance processes with key partners in our application security, cloud infrastructure, and reliability engineering team.

 

What You Will Do:

  • Manage and scale security programs by defining milestones and success criteria, resource allocation, and successful on-time delivery
  • Proactively identify and resolve roadblocks/challenges affecting projects and drive automation and process improvements for security programs
  • Act as a technical program lead for critical operational security programs within Confluent
  • Explain technical architecture, decisions, and tradeoffs to both engineering and other functions
  • Work with Engineering, Product, and Security leadership to streamline and drive our projects on a predictable schedule
  • Work with stakeholders to drive cross-cutting and/or critical security initiatives for the company
  • Participate in operational security work, including incident response and vulnerability management
  • Mentor other Security Technical Program Managers on execution and delivery, both from a security subject matter expert perspective as well as program management

 

What You Will Bring:

  • 3+ years of people management experience
  • Experience in running long-term, complex security programs that deliver iterative improvements and risk reduction over time
  • Experience in operational security work, such as incident response and vulnerability management, M&A
  • Strong security engineering fundamentals background in infrastructure security, especially Kubernetes, cloud-native identity, controls in GCP, AWS, and Azure, and/or web application security
  • Experience in operational security practices in a cloud-first environment, especially incident response, secrets management, vulnerability assessment, threat modeling
  • Experience in the actual design and development of software projects is a plus
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills to work with both engineering and other non-technical stakeholders
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience

At Confluent, we are committed to providing competitive pay and benefits that are in line with industry standards. We analyze and carefully consider several factors when determining compensation, including work history, education, professional experience, and location.  This position has an annual estimated salary of 185,900 - 213,800 USD, an annual bonus, and a competitive equity package. The actual pay may vary depending on your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Confluent offers a wide range of employee benefits.
