About the Role:

The Confluent BT&D Data team is looking for a skilled and experienced Tableau Administrator to manage the Tableau Application within our organization. The ideal candidate will have a solid technical background in Tableau Server and Application administration and exceptional operational and support skills.

This role involves robust technology and support service delivery and operations. The responsibilities include installing, configuring, and administrating the Tableau server on the GCP platform, handling user management tickets, and performing all other support and maintenance operations, including L1/L2/L3 activities.

What You Will Do:

  • Add users and manage user management, including security regulations.
  • Create and manage groups, workbooks, projects, database views, data sources, and connections. Also, create, modify, and manage server task schedules.
  • Monitor server activity and usage statistics to identify possible performance issues or enhancements. Collaborate with developers and infrastructure teams.
  • Upgrade server software and collaborate with IT infrastructure for upgrades and changes.
  • Configure Tableau Server to work with GCP BigQuery as a data source.
  • Perform installation, migration, and upgrade of Tableau Servers and Desktops in a high-availability scenario.
  • Conduct performance analysis of existing Tableau Servers and provide best practice recommendations. Create standard operating procedures and run books.
  • Generate periodic reports on Tableau Server and application usage.
  • Provide second-tier support to the user community on various Tableau Server and Desktop issues.
  • Create, modify, and manage server task schedules. Monitor server activity and usage statistics to identify possible performance issues or enhancements.
  • Perform cleanup and create backups.
  • Enforce policies and assist users with workflows.
  • Possess technical knowledge and familiarity with GCP, Azure, and AWS cloud-based BI solutions.
  • Excellent understanding of Active Directory, DNS, load balancer, and network firewall.
  • Have experience configuring single sign-on (SSO) with SAML authentication.

What You Will Bring:

  • Minimum 6-10 years of experience in a Tableau Administration role, preferably with the 2023 version.
  • Required experience in Linux and Postgres.
  • Required experience in using monitoring tools like New Relic and Data Dog.
  • Preferred experience in Data Warehouse administration, specifically with BigQuery.
  • Proficiency in scripting for automation is necessary.
  • Experience with Tableau server integrations, data extraction, and deployment strategies.
  • Knowledge of JIRA or similar tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong troubleshooting and organizational skills.
  • Strong desire to learn and apply new technologies to solve business problems.
  • Growth mindset with the ability to apply constructive feedback to improve oneself and processes.
  • Ability to quickly self-train and acquire new skills as needed.
