Commercial Solutions Engineer

As a Commercial Solutions Engineer at Confluent, you'll be a critical driver of customer success in the modern enterprise. You'll work closely with our sales, product management, and engineering teams to provide technical advice and product advocacy to our customers. You'll be responsible for articulating Confluent's technical and product positioning to a wide variety of business and technical stakeholders, and for forging strong relationships with them throughout the sales cycle and beyond. You'll have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology, including Apache Kafka, and to develop ETL applications that transform businesses across all industries.

 As a member of our team, you'll be responsible for driving the technical evaluation stage of the overall sales process. You'll provide technical guidance to our customers as they undertake technical design and development of their end-to-end solution, and you'll be conversant with the current state and future roadmap of Kafka in open source. You'll be able to identify known issues and inform customers of upcoming fixes or workarounds. You'll have the opportunity to work with Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions, and to build and operate large-scale massively parallel systems. You'll be a self-starter with a desire to tackle hard technical problems, and you'll have a Bachelor's level degree in Computer Science or relevant experience.

We're looking for candidates with experience in distributed systems, infrastructure software, and Big Data products.

You should have proficiency in Java, Python, Node, or Go, and exceptional presentation and communication skills.

You should have a clear, consistent demonstration of self-starter behavior and a desire to tackle hard technical problems.

Previous experience building solutions with Apache Kafka and an understanding of systems operations concepts is highly desirable.

Previous sales engineering experience is a plus, as is the ability to write white papers, articles, and/or present at marketing conferences.

This role can be based in either of our EMEA hubs in London or Barcelona
