About the Role: 

This isn’t your average analyst relations team. Confluent’s AR team is on the front lines of category creation as we define and influence the emergence of data streaming platforms. As part of the communications team, AR is pivotal in building trust, credibility, and meaningful relationships with these market- and buying-decision influencers.  

As a technologist on the AR team you’ll get to work with executives, product management, product marketing, and other technical leads to help shape the Data Streaming Platforms category, the technology markets within it, and Confluent’s leadership across these.  

We’re looking for someone who understands the technical intricacies of data streaming and can tie these back to the overall category story. You’ll need to know what good advocacy and thought leadership look like, and how to translate this into external-facing content. A genuine interest in data streaming technologies is a must for this role.  


What You Will Do: 

  • We strive to achieve the balance of being strong partners to internal teams, bringing in intelligence and identifying opportunities for feedback, and being advocates for the analyst community, securing their perspectives and sharing our viewpoints on technology markets.
  • Serve as the first line of technical defense in analyst engagements by communicating complex technological ideas and capabilities to this community
  • Understand the analyst landscape and become an advocate for this community by helping position Confluent as it relates to their research focus areas
  • Serve as a content creator, combining your technical skills and passion for Confluent by creating, customizing, and proactively sharing content, resources, and product assets with key technology analysts
  • Work with multiple teams spanning Product Marketing, Product Management, Finance, etc. to ensure analysts have a positive outlook of our category and Confluent’s leadership role within it
  • Track and analyze research that spans our markets, our competitive set, and us, building insightful reports that inform internal team’s plans, including translating Confluent-specific analyst feedback into actionable insights for our product and marketing teams
  • Collaborate with teams looking to commission analyst research, counseling them on the best match, and serving as the content and relationship liaison 


What You Will Bring: 

We’re looking for someone with the ability to think strategically, and know what needs to be done to achieve a goal, even when there is no pre-planned script or market leader to follow.  

  • Career experience: 6+ years of evangelizing technical concepts, with event and data streaming, AI experience is a plus.
  • Technical experience: Strong practitioner-level technical acumen is a must.
  • Strategy: Ability to convey deeply technical concepts as they map to various technology markets.
    Influence: Engage to build trusted relationships with analysts, senior executives and customers, speaking confidently as a technology advocate who can cover both technical and conceptual content.  
  • Content: Create and convert technical materials that reframe concepts in interesting ways, with an excellent writing style that clearly explains complex ideas.
  • Autonomy: Deliver high-quality materials while managing expectations and deadlines.
  • Management and project execution: Craft, manage and implement complex projects, handling diverse personalities, executing efficiently, and maximizing the value from resources you have at your disposal.

At Confluent, we are committed to providing competitive pay and benefits that are in line with industry standards. We analyze and carefully consider several factors when determining compensation, including work history, education, professional experience, and location.  This position has an annual estimated salary of $130,600 - $150,200, an annual bonus, and a competitive equity package. The actual pay may vary depending on your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Confluent offers a wide range of employee benefits.
