About the Role:   

As the Senior Director, Head of Revenue Accounting at Confluent, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing global GAAP revenue, leading revenue recognition processes, and managing Accounts Receivable, Billing, and Collections functions.  Your responsibilities include establishing scalable revenue processes, global policies, and procedures while providing thought leadership on the overall order-to-cash process for scalability.  In addition to technical analysis, this role emphasizes developing people, enhancing processes and controls, and effective cross-functional collaboration in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment.   
   
The ideal candidate is an experienced CPA with at least 12+ years of progressively responsible experience in an enterprise software company, including experience working in a publicly traded company. Experience with Saas and on-premise software is required, and familiarity with a consumption-oriented business model is a plus.     
Due to the fast-paced and high-growth nature of the Company, the candidate must be detail-oriented, have strong organization and communication skills, and have a willingness to roll up their sleeves when needed.    
   
This remote eligible position will report to the VP, Corporate Controller.   

    

What You Will Do:   

  • Oversee and lead Confluent’s global revenue function, ensuring scalability through the development of efficient and streamlined processes.     
  • Provide thought leadership and establish a long-term vision on the order-to-cash process for scalability. Drive revenue transformation initiatives and lead the team through change management.   
  • Develop and mentor the revenue team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.   
  • Lead initiatives for talent development, process improvement, and effective controls within the revenue accounting function.   
  • Serve as the finance organization’s subject matter expert on revenue accounting and collaborate cross-functionally with legal, sales, deal desk/sales operations, and FP&A on structuring complex deals to optimize revenue recognition while maintaining compliance.   
  • Support Confluent’s consumption transformation initiatives by leading process development, systems implementations, and integrations associated with a consumption-oriented SaaS model.     
  • Collaborate on new product introductions; partner with product management, engineering, and GTM to assess the impact on revenue recognition, operational impact, scalability, and business risk.   
  • Work closely with Confluent’s external auditors to ensure approved revenue policies are adhered to, align on new and developing revenue topics and transactions, and ensure all audit and SEC reporting deliverables are met.   
  • Maintain and evolve revenue-related internal controls and evaluate opportunities for efficiency while ensuring compliance with Confluent’s revenue accounting policies and SOX.   

    

What You Will Bring:   

  • 12+ years of experience with revenue accounting and reporting, including experience working in a publicly traded company.   
  • BS in Finance or Accounting; CPA and Big 4 experience required.   
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, particularly revenue recognition (ASC 606) for Saas and on-premise software, with a preference for usage-based Saas.   
  • Proven ability to research complex accounting issues and recommend effective solutions.   
  • Strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and the ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced, high-growth environment   
  • Proven ability to lead change and inspire others.   
  • Experience with NetSuite ARM and Salesforce is a plus.

At Confluent, we are committed to providing competitive pay and benefits that are in line with industry standards. We analyze and carefully consider several factors when determining compensation, including work history, education, professional experience, and location.  This position has an annual estimated salary of $207,000 - $248,400 USD, an annual bonus, and a competitive equity package. The actual pay may vary depending on your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Confluent offers a wide range of employee benefits.
