About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated finance manager (commissions) to join our Sales FP&A team. In this high-profile role you will work with business partners across Confluent to help drive strategic decision-making, provide financial insight, and build operational rigor and efficiency. You will help guide the financial planning, forecasting, and reporting process for our Sales Commissions and provide recommendations and insights to your business partners. You will provide input and advice on the design principles of our Compensation Plans, helping the business understand the financial implications and risks of design options. You will also be responsible for key ad hoc analysis in support of the overall Sales FP&A Team. This role will report to the Director of Sales FP&A and can be based in our headquarters in Mountain View, CA or remote within the U.S.

What You Will Do:

  • Build and own sales commissions model to support our annual planning and monthly forecasting processes.
  • Partner with leaders in Sales, Sales Ops and Finance to provide visibility into latest forecasted commissions results, as well as risks and opportunities.
  • Ensure appropriate risk management is in place in our forecasts, developing a scenario based view of our expenses and how they may vary based on topline performance and Sales attainment trends.
  • Play a proactive role in the change management associated with our updated Compensation Plans for 2024 including design improvement, quota setting and SPIFs.
  • Develop and foster cross functional alignment between Sales, Sales Ops and Finance on Comp Plan design choices and the associated financial implications and risks.
  • Take ownership of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packages for Sales Commissions payout and expenses, along with associated insights, dashboards and metrics.
  • Identify and lead initiatives to continuously improve, automate, and scale forecasting and reporting tools, processes, and methodologies.
  • Provide analytical support and thought leadership for ad-hoc projects.

What You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business/finance, math, engineering or another degree with 5+ years of relevant work experience in a quantitative role.
  • Prior FP&A or sales commissions experience at a high growth technology company or in investment banking, management consulting, venture capital, private equity, and/or transaction advisory roles working with technology companies.
  • Ability to influence business partners and provide recommendations in order to drive decision-making and execution.
  • Experience developing and improving processes with desire to inspire change across the organization.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills; must also be proficient using G-Suite.
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal & presentation) with the ability to understand and communicate difficult concepts.
  • Excellent financial modeling and analysis skills.
  • Ability to work quickly and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining a high level of precision and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate an extraordinary work ethic and mental curiosity to understand and solve problems.
  • A highly motivated team player.
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, including ASC-606.

What Gives You an Edge:

  • Experience with Salesforce, SQL, Tableau, NetSuite, and Anaplan or other financial ERPs
  • Prior expense in Sales FP&A, Commissions Finance, or other roles closely supporting the sales organization of a technology company.
  • MBA, CPA or CFA.
