About the Team:     

Join our team of highly motivated and fast-paced software engineers working at the forefront of real-time data processing with Apache Flink. Flink is a powerful stream processing framework that powers mission-critical streaming workloads at many companies across the globe.      

Our team’s mission is to build the best-in-class Apache Flink offering for self-managed environments. We are looking for engineers who are eager to help us achieve this mission. As part of our team, we want you to play a critical role in shaping the future of our products and technologies. Each team member is involved in the ‘why’ of what we are doing and not ‘just’ writing code.      

What You Will Bring:     

• Minimum of 7+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
• Strong generalist software engineers who bring domain expertise in one or more of the following areas:
  • Containerized deployments with Kubernetes, including custom operators and resource definitions.
  • Modern Java-based microservices.
  • Java build and release management.
  • Enterprise security.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems design and development.
• Solid understanding of systems engineering (CPU, memory, disk, network).
• A track record of being product-minded and customer-focused.
• Engineers who nurture a culture of excellence on the team through a focus on clear communication, predictable execution, and high quality of deliverables. 
• Engineers who have a strong sense of teamwork and the ability to make decisions that benefit the team and company. We default to open collaboration with a focus on effective asynchronous work.
• Engineers who have a bias towards action and results by moving with urgency and iterating in small steps.
• Experience working effectively in remote-first and asynchronous work environments.
• A degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.

What Gives You an Edge:     

• Experience using and/or working on data infrastructure such as SQL databases, Apache Kafka, Apache Flink or Apache Spark.  
• Experience building high performance, high availability systems.  
• Experience with open-source software communities (e.g. under the umbrella of the Apache Software Foundation or Cloud Native Computing Foundation).  
• Interest in evangelism (giving talks at tech conferences, writing blog posts).
