About the Role:

Love technology and care about customers? We do! The Customer Education team is comprised of smart people who are passionate about helping enable our customers to use Confluent's software. We’re geeks with heart who get to work with very cool software and some of the biggest and most innovative companies around the world.

Confluent technical trainers are often the first point of contact customers have with the company. As a member of this team, you are the sort of person who is comfortable explaining highly complex subjects to people with clarity, patience, and empathy. You are just as passionate about teaching open-source and proprietary products to your students. You have experience teaching courses to groups large and small, in public venues and on-site with clients. Nothing makes you happier than connecting with a room full of people and creating an environment in which they are able to learn and master exciting new things. You are US-based, and love to travel.   

What You Will Do:

  • Deliver classroom and virtual training to a variety of technical audiences
  • Provide support for course development efforts, including product research, providing subject matter expertise, and training content review
  • Create, update and maintain slide decks and lab exercises for customer facing training
  • Assist with updates for all curricula as required
  • Assist with updates for course descriptions, syllabi, and other collateral pertaining to external education

What You Will Bring:

  • Strong knowledge of Apache Kafka
  • 5+ years experience as a technical trainer / sales engineer / professional services consultant or equivalent technical position
  • Proven experience successfully delivering ILT and VILT courses on open source technologies to highly technical audiences
  • Able to travel up to 75% of the time
  • Comfortable providing support on pre-sales calls
  • Experienced with virtual classroom training tools such as WebEx, Zoom, etc.
  • Experience creating training materials, inclusive of hands on labs
  • Comfortable acting as a SME and review and revise on newly created content & labs
  • Continuous desire to learn and help other understand deeply technical concepts

What Gives You an Edge:

  • Fluent in Spanish
  • Knowledge of Confluent products
  • Proficient in at least one programming language, preferably Java
  • Hands-on experience with Docker
  • Experience with Git and GitHub

At Confluent, we are committed to providing competitive pay and benefits that are in line with industry standards. We analyze and carefully consider several factors when determining compensation, including work history, education, professional experience, and location. This position has an annual estimated salary of $113,200 - $133,020 USD, an annual bonus, and a competitive equity package. The actual pay may vary depending on your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Confluent offers a wide range of employee benefits.
