  • Help solve detection engineering problems in a multi-cloud, multi-region, and multi-account environment leveraged by many engineering teams
  • Identify ways to improve the Detection and Response tooling ecosystem, and own key vendor relationships ensuring capabilities can scale with our growth
  • Stay up to date on the evolving threat landscape and adversarial techniques, and prioritize engineering plans to effectively protect Confluent’s assets
  • Improve Incident Response (IR) methodologies to ensure rapid and effective mitigations and remediations of security incidents
  • Identify key security threats and develop strategies to address telemetry and response gaps by leveraging cloud-native services and detections-as-code
  • Cultivate and grow a high performing team of engaged engineers who will continue to evolve and address the security needs of the company

What You Will Bring:

  • 3+ years of Management experience, and 10+ years of Security experience (preferably focused in detection engineering and incident response)
  • Strong security fundamentals background, especially knowledge of common and emerging threats against cloud infrastructure, identities, and endpoints
  • Proven experience in maturing detection capabilities in a cloud-first environment, leveraging best practices for scalability and performance
  • Proven experience in maturing operational security practices, especially incident response and acting as incident commander
  • Decision maker with a data-driven mindset and the ability to operate with freedom and autonomy
  • The knowledge, experience and perspective necessary to own outcomes,  influence stakeholders, and provide effective leadership when it comes to keeping our customers and our product safe
  • Ability to own and oversee numerous initiatives, while working collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders, and adjust priorities upon evolving business needs
  • Experience in hiring, mentoring, and developing remote teams of high-performing engineers
